SHIFT IN DEMAND CURVE

SHIFT IN DEMAND CURVE:
When due to factor other than the price, more or less quantity at the same price is demanded it is known as increase or decrease in demand, which leads to shift in demand curve toward right or left.
The shift may be due to:-
1} Change in consumer income
2}change in price of substitutes
3}change in taste & preferences of consumer, etc.
EXAMPLE OF RIGHTWARD SHIFT
In normal days demand of an umbrella is less (i.e. 10 unit ) but during rainy season its quantity demanded increase(say 25 unit) not because of change in price but because of change in weather. Thus due to rainy season there is increase in QD of Umbrella.
